Established in 1979 by the British Council, Chung Ying Theatre Company (Chung Ying) is a unique professional theatrical arts company in Hong Kong. As a registered charitable organization, Chung Ying is financially supported by the Government of the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region. The theatre established in-house archives in 2018 with a noble mission to preserve the treasures of Chung Ying and celebrate Hong Kong’s rich and diverse theatrical legacy. The archives house a variety of archival materials, including production records, handbills, house programs, photographs, videos, and more. We are also committed to collecting and preserving historical materials through acquisition, oral history interviews, and digitization projects, ensuring access to these valuable resources. 

Archives are more than just collections but repositories of memory. They are gateways to the past, allowing us to relive moments that might otherwise be lost. While performances may be fleeting, archives are a testament to their existence. They provide a window into Hong Kong's rich and diverse theatre heritage, allowing future generations to explore and learn.
